Maureen Ryan Baringer has over twenty five years experience planning and promoting special events, and a stellar reputation for her management, promotional, and organizational skills. She originates from Upstate New York, having grown up in the Adirondack Region of New York State. Maureen attended the State University College at Cortland where she received a bachelors degree in Recreation Management. She worked for a city recreation department planning events for several years. In her previous role as Executive Director of her local Chamber of Commerce, she worked to promote many corporations and businesses. Maureen, combined the knowledge and experience gained from those positions, and opened Baringer & Associates, LLC in 1995, fulfilling her vision to manage her own corporate events planning company. She has planned corporate events, conferences, and trade shows throughout New York State for the past eighteen years, coordinating with clients from across the United States and several international locations. She is a respected authority on the events planning industry and has spoken to many groups on topics related to the field. Baringer has also consulted with businesses and organizations throughout New York State who seek her expertise on how to better plan and promote their special events. Maureen also believes in mentoring the next generation. She taught an Events Planning course at Ithaca College where she planned a major special event with her students each semester. She has served as a member of the Homer Central School District Board of Education and the SUNY Cortland College Council.
Amy Lalla is an extremely artistic person who has a flair for creating simple elegance at her events. She holds a degree in Advertising and Design from Cazenovia College. She was employed for many years as a Graphic Artist at Marietta Corporation. Her event planning experience includes, designing invitations and media packages, to planning an entire wedding from start to finish. Amy has developed the concepts and art work for many themed events with Baringer & Associates, LLC. She also created and designed the new logo and web page for their new Upstate NY Events division. Amy is an award winning artist who is known throughout New York State for her design work.
Robin Pinto has been an event planner in the Capital District of New York State for 15 years, most recently as Director of Special Event Sales and Marketing for the numerous properties of Mallozzi’s in Schenectady, NY. During her career she has been an education coordinator and meeting planner for a large trade association, run a 600 seat restaurant and large event venue and has coordinated over one thousand weddings and special events. She received an Award of Excellence from National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 2005 for her work in her field. She consults for several event management companies and writes for numerous industry magazines.

The Ithaca College School of Business asked Maureen Baringer to attend their first Women In Business Luncheon held on April 24. Baringer was asked to mentor students at the luncheon and to speak on the one piece of advice she would recommend to women entering the business world.Baringer advised those in attendance, that the best accessory they could ever wear is confidence. She advised that we spend too much time worrying about the right earrings, the right shoes and other cosmetic issues when it is confidence (not arrogance) that will draw people to us and provide success in the business world. She advised the students to engage people by sincerely focusing on them with eye contact, developing a connection, and following through on conversation topics.

Baringer & Associates, LLC Opens Upstate NY Events Division
Maureen Baringer, president of Baringer & Associates LLC recently announced a new division of her company. “Upstate New York Events” opened as a division of Baringer & Associates, LLC. The division will provide networking, educational, and promotional opportunities for businesses, professionals, and college programs related to the events industry throughout Upstate New York.
Upstate New York Events will maintain chapters and host networking events in five regions of Upstate New York. The regions are Northern New York (Lake Placid), Eastern New York (Albany), Central New York (Syracuse), Western New York (Rochester), and the Southern/Finger Lakes Region (Ithaca). A major conference and trade show will be held in Central New York each year. One day educational seminars related to the events industry will also be held in each region.
Upstate New York Events will host an online networking site to connect and promote businesses, college programs, and not-for-profit groups all related to the events industry in Upstate New York. The Web site will go live in January at www.upstatenyevents.com and will have superior search engine listings for maximum visibility. Members will have an opportunity to promote their products and services and a link to their Web sites from the upstatenyevents.com Web site. There will be an opportunity for advertising on the site and a calendar of member events. An online blog will be created for members to share their event experiences. Online newsletters focused on the upstate events industry will be published each month. The Web site will serve as an international resource for all businesses and products related to the events industry in Upstate New York. An active referral service to promote members to businesses and groups who are hosting events in the Upstate New York region will be managed through the Web site.
There has been frustration in the events industry regarding networking and promotional opportunities,” Baringer said. “Many of the professional networking groups related to the events industry are affiliated with downstate metropolitan areas. Upstate businesses found that they were paying dues to international groups whose meetings and resources were all downstate. The events industry is growing rapidly upstate and we have many unique businesses and resources to promote. Our goal is to provide convenient locations for everyone involved in this industry upstate to connect, learn, and ultimately increase their business and professional opportunities. Our networking opportunities will be innovative, informative, and inviting!”
Upstate New York Events will also work closely with college recreation leadership and hospitality programs. Organization of student chapters in each region will be promoted. Scholarships will also be provided to students who are studying in the field. Students will receive reduced rates for all programs run through Upstate New York Events. The Web site will maintain a current listing of internship and job opportunities in the field.
